Abstract
Palpation can aid physicians in the detection of tumors. Liver palpation during surgery, breast self-examination and clinical breast examination are some examples. There is a need for realistic palpation training tools for medical personnel (Campbell et al, 1991). Virtual reality provides an environment where a trainee can repeat the same scenario over a period of time. This provides an opportunity to expose the user to otherwise rare conditions.
