Abstract

Cervical spondylotic myelopathy, a commonly seen entity among the elderly, is often treated surgically to prevent progressive neurologic deterioration. There is a trend toward multi-segmental anterior surgical decompression and fusion in these cases [2]. Multi-level anterior cervical plates are frequently used to supplement these fusions. Previous in vitro experimental studies of anterior plating systems have been limited to one or two motion segment spine models [3,4].
